EXCELLENT READ BECAUSE: Straddling genres in a unique and engaging way this engrossing read is like the love child of a period drama and an alternative reality fantasy. (Think ‘The Illusionist’ or ‘The Prestige’ but without all the testosterone and reflected in a mirror verse.) The world of The Unflinching Ash is one that alludes so evocatively to our own that you’ll easily imagine it’s set some place in Europe that few people know about (and you’re tempted to contact a travel agency and book a trip). The author has effectively taken from the familiar (witchcraft trials, the Elizabethan Era, clever stage magicians, etc.) and crafted something new. This book has a fantastic premise, a captivating principle character, and a beautiful way of bringing your childhood wonder at magic shows back to life! I loved every page of it.

I highly recommend THE UNFLINCHING ASH for all fans of alternate reality tales, fantasy books, and unique reads. (I can’t end this review without adding how beautiful the cover art is. It’s a real stunner! Treat yourself to a physical copy.)
