INVESTIGATION, MEDIATION, VINDICATION (The Many Travails of John Smith, Book 1) by Chris Tullbane – URBAN FANTASY
NUTSHELL: Well written, diverse characters, a likeable MC, and a plot that keeps you reading…
EXCELLENT READ BECAUSE: I don’t know about you but I love reading urban fantasy where the character isn’t an all powerful being who gets more amped up with every page turn. What I really enjoyed about this book was that the titular ‘hero’ has no real power (aside from an ability that isn’t at all super but does tend to make powerful beings want to kill him, in this case vampires). He’s likeable enough and the story unfolds at an excellent pace. For urban fantasy readers it is a very comfortable world to delve into. There’s a lot that’s familiar, but the author has put his own unique spin on it. This is a well written tale. If you’re after humour, fresh urban fantasy, and a no regrets read, then look this one up!
I recommend INVESTIGATION, MEDIATION, VINDICATION, the first book in the Many Travails of John Smith series, as an excellent read for urban fantasy fans. I’ll definitely be picking up books two and three. (They’re both out as at this time with another on the way! I have reviewed the second in the series here.)
Available on Amazon. This title is currently in KindleUnlimited. (Disclaimer: I didn’t get this book via the author, I picked it out myself.)
The stakes are real. The mediator isn’t.
An exiled vampire queen.
A vegetable demigod.
A magic Nintendo.
When supernatural forces collide, it will take a skilled mediator to keep their conflict from destroying San Diego.
Unfortunately, all they have is John Smith.

I don’t do stars but for sites that do (Amazon, GoodReads, etc.) I give five stars for all books that I enjoy reading. I do not write reviews for books that I didn’t. (Most likely I won’t finish reading them either.) Reviews are subjective and one reader’s three stars is another’s five, which is why I only do reviews for books I enjoyed. If I liked reading it, it’s worth five stars to me. Life’s too short to read bad books and write about them. I mostly review Indie Authors.
